Connector Bus Service
The NH Department of Transportation constructed a state-of-the-art multi-modal
Transportation Terminal between Exits 14 & 15 of I-93 in 1995. It is the new home to
Concord Trailways with bus service to Boston and Portland, Maine. Call (603) 228-3300 for
schedules.
Rail Availability and Services
New England Southern Railroad Company provides freight rail service and Fall foliage tours
to the Concord area. Rail lines connect Concord to Boston, the Lakes Region, and the White
Mountains. Call (603) 228-8580.
Highway System
Concord is well served with 6 interchanges on I-93, 2 interchanges on I-89, and 4
interchanges on I-393. New Hampshire Highways 4, 9, 13, 106, 132, 202, and U.S. Route 3
also converge in Concord. Being geographically located in the center of the State, Concord
has excellent access to the North, South, East, and West corners of the State, as well as
being a quick comfortable drive to Boston, Portland, New York City, Providence, Hartford,
and Montreal. Click on the Maps.
Street System
As with many older New Hampshire communities, Concord is blessed with preserving many of
its quaint historical inner-city streets and alley ways which make for interesting foot
tours. As the State Capital, Concord leads the State in aggressive investments in
maintaining a healthy modern-day infrastructure and to allow residents, employees, and
visitors easy access to their destinations. With the exception of a Winston Cup Race
weekend at the nearby New Hampshire International Speedway, you will seldom experience
gridlock when you visit or pass through Concord. The City maintains an aggressive 6-year
Capital Improvement Plan to assure we keep current traffic demands flowing smoothly and to
keep up with the ever growing traffic demands of our thriving economy.
An example is when the Steeplegate Mall was developed, the City, in partnership
with the Mall and other private property owners, invested over $6 million in
infrastructure to provide for the regional retail destination growth we successfully
hosted.
