Downtown
Area Parking
Managing downtown parking
is one of Concord's more challenging responsibilities. Visitors and
tourists swell the ranks of the city's driving population every day, often
arriving and traversing the downtown business area. To ensure
that motorists have short-term parking options, particularly in this high-traffic
area, the city offers an extensive system of metered parking spaces and parking
garages.

Notifications can be sent to you via cell phone text message or e-mail when
you subscribe to Concord Television's free electronic list service

e-mails or text messages that do not reach subscribers. Therefore,
residents are encouraged to monitor local television and radio stations.
Effective Nov. 1, 2008 to
Nov. 1, 2010 overnight parking will be allowed in the newly created
Downtown Overnight Parking Area.
You may NOT park within the Downtown Overnight Parking Area during a WINTER
STORM EVENT PARKING BAN, WINTER MAINTENANCE PARKING BAN, or EMERGENCY
PARKING BAN. Outside of the Downtown Overnight Parking Area, vehicles may
NOT park
on a City of Concord Street between the hours of 2:00 AM-6:00 AM. (A
special exception may be granted for a single overnight allowance if previous arrangements have been made
with the Parking Enforcement Division.)
Parking meters increase
access to parking by encouraging "turnover" of the spaces.
The meters display
decals indicating meter rates, time limits and effective hours.
Parking meter effective
hours extend until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Parking is free at the
meters after 5:00 PM, as well as weekends and holidays.
Vehicles displaying handicap license plates or placards may park for
free for the maximum amount
of time allocated on the meter or timed parking zone. All handicap vehicles, including those
from out of state, must observe the posted time limits and have their
handicap plates or placards clearly displayed. The disabled permit or
plate does not allow for parking beyond the time limits placed upon the
area.
The City of Concord has replaced the majority
of its old crank-operated parking meters with
modern, state-of-the-art meters, which are more reliable and accept nickels,
dimes, and quarters.
All day downtown parking is available in theFirehouse,Durgin Block,
andCapital Commonsparking structures, as well as Storrs Street
(Storrs Street runs parallel to Main Street one block to the East).
